After requesting a token, you will receive it by mail, or upon request by pickup at the IT service desk. Before you can use the token, you must activate it here. The serial number alone is not sufficient – you need the physical token (YubiKey, TAN list) or the QR code (APP token).

Can I also activate a TAN token?

Yes, you can still have a TAN token issued, but as of fall 2026 it will probably only be usable as a backup token to log in to the 2FA portal. We therefore recommend using an APP token.
